Primary elections are held on the first Tuesday in May after the first Monday.
General elections are held on the first Tuesday in November after the first Monday.
Where to Vote
If you are unsure of which location to go to for voting on Election Day, visit the NC State Board of Elections at Voter Lookup. You will need to input your personal information. Click on your highlighted name and it will bring you to your voter history and assigned polling place.

On the registration application, you must declare your party affiliation by choosing one of the following:

Primary elections are held the first Tuesday in May after the first Monday. You may vote ONLY in your declared party’s primary. If you are registered with the Democratic Party you will receive the Democratic ballot and if you are registered with the Republican Party you will receive the Republican ballot. Voters registered as Unaffiliated may request either the Republican OR Democratic ballot. They can choose which ballot they want to vote.
General elections are held the first Tuesday in November after the first Monday. There is one ballot and you may vote for any candidate you wish, regardless of your declared party affiliation.
